Event Safety Management

Although many events employ security guards, this is only a moderate deterrent against a determined attacker. Like schools, the factor most likely to detect or mitigate a violent attack against an event is the level of training of the event staff, and their ability to follow emergency procedures. Paradigm has several courses available to train event staff in emergency preparedness and situational awareness, including offering certificates to organizations that complete set courses of training.

The primary point of concern should be the entry point to the room, and how to secure it. Some items to consider include:

  • the lock,
  • the door self-closing mechanism,
  • the door stop, and
  • objects that could be placed in front of the door to make it difficult to open.
